Some of you may be looking at this photo and are thinking “have fun picking that up”. For most women, this has happened to all of us at least once, and it’s seriously the most annoying thing in the world. This happened to me the other day on my way to work, when I had to quickly push my brakes because we know how other drivers are. I was already running a couple minutes late, and this was just the icing on the cake. I quick gathered everything up from the passenger side of my vehicle, and went into work. Then it hit me, this is the perfect piece of content to write about!
No, I’m not talking about having your bag spill all over the floor, I’m talking about what is in my bag! I have seen these all over the internet, and always found them weirdly intriguing. We all know the common items like keys, wallet, checks, all the normal stuff. I I always think it’s funny seeing the things that some people carry like bottle of shampoo and random silverware, or even anything like a joke book to make themselves laugh. I thought I would do my own version of “what’s in my bag” (purse edition).
First off, I used to be a massive bag collector. Many of them I got from my mom because her and I had relatively close to the same style. My current one, funny enough, I actually got from a craft store, because I definitely can’t afford any Michael Kors or Coach purses (I’m attending university, some of those purses cost as much as my student loans). But I love it because of the separation it provides and all the pockets. I am an organizational freak so this purse makes me happy. Now, lets get down to business and find out what’s in my bag!
#1: My Wallet/Purse When I Don’t Feel Like Carrying My Purse
My fiance gifted me this about 2 years ago and I haven’t used any other wallet since. I love Harry Potter along with other outlets of fantasy like Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Etc. (Strangely enough I haven’t watched Game of Thrones, don’t condemn me). If you want to find this, just check out thinkgeek.com and just type in “spellbook wallet”.
#2: This Mini Umbrella
In all seriousness, this is one of the best things I could have ever put into my purse. This is a tad bit bigger than a TV remote. I’ve had this for practically 5 years and use it almost every time it rains. I’ve been debating on packing one more for my fiance, but I actually can’t find anymore this compact, but if you can, let me know in the comments below!
#3: A Mini Sewing Kit
I found this gem in the dollar department of my local craft store when looking for something small for my mom. I saw this and instantly fell in love with it. I have used this more than once and have friends thanking me for repairing something on the fly. Unfortunately, you do have to know how to sew a simple stitch to use it, because it won’t do it for you. If you do not know, check out a YouTube video or call your mom (She may laugh, but it is just because she loves you.
#4: Accessories
I have always kept at least 2 accessories in my purse, because, you never know when you are going to need them. I would use a necklace, but I don’t want to even attempt to untangle that mess. Earrings would also be a good piece, but I would lose them, and I am scared the stone or gem would fall out. So I have chosen a simple black watch and a black and gold headband. Many of my professional outfits go along with these pieces, so this is why I carry these two in particular. I also carry a watch battery and a mini tool kit to replace the battery, especially if I am in a place with no clock or my phone is dead.
#5: Chapstick Galore!
I have way more than 2 tubes of chap stick in my purse, but these two are my go-to. During the winter, my lips become super chapped so I will always carry this and a moisturizing lotion for my hands, like a small bottle of Aquaphor. I will also try to carry a small container of moisturizer, especially if I am staying the night somewhere.
#6: Everything Else
Besides the basics like my keys and sunglasses, there are a few other random things that have helped me out quite a bit. I love Tide sticks and swear by them. I always have at least one in my bag. It’s super useful if you drip some wine or coffee onto your shirt, let the stick rub into the stain and it will work it’s cleaning magic!
Another thing I keep is loads of pens and a small journal. These are super nice to have if I am going into a meeting or attending a seminar where I have to take notes. I always take a look at it every night to, to make sure I don’t have any reminders in there that I haven’t written on my calendar.
Lastly, tissues, hand sanitizer and mints are something that I personally think everyone should have with in their bag!
